Lions, Tigers and Bears, Yoo Betcha

Settling into a couple of weeks in the U.P. is always delightful. The day seems to struggle to reached into the upper 70’s and the cool breeze, chilly shade and absence of humidity make it seem like a world apart from the brutal heat and muggy air of the south.… continue reading

A Delightful Round of Golf, A Steak and A Trip To Mayberry, I Mean Newberry.

It has been the better part of 16 years since I last played golf at Hiawatha Sportsman’s Club golf course. It still held incredibly vivid imagery and warm memories in my heart. The first time I ever chipped a ball in from many yards off the green, the first time I ever “truly” parred a hole and the first time I ever came within a few strokes of paring a course.… continue reading

Grave Times for the Great Lakes.

As we ventured into the seemingly untouched expanses of the upper Peninsula something seemed a miss. We strolled the beach in Mackinac city, in the shadow of the great mackinac bridge, something seemed off. Yoopers and Trolls, Eh.

The local people’s council was not making my ability to secure our proper documents an easy task by any means. I had secured our apartment on a day to day basis and taking full advantage of our extended time together, Diễm and I settled into a wonderful routine of daily walks to the mart, trips to the market and dinner at home most evenings.… continue reading

The Honeymoon

After an incredible evening we retired to the apartment where the floor had erupted into quite a flat party. The festivities carried on into the wee hours of the night. Over the course of the evening guests came and went. So I took some time preparing a few treats for our rotating circle of friends on the floor.… continue reading

The Night Markets and Returning To Hội An

As I’ve discussed previously the heat is blistering here. In Southeast Asia one of the many beautiful things that is either directly or indirectly caused by an attempt to avoid the sun are night markets, and Vietnam boasts some of the best.… continue reading

Playa Centro and Taqueria Erika

After a couple of intense days of exploration and adventure it was time to slow things down. We were, after all, in paradise and it seemed a waste to rush it all away. We slowly got ourselves up, in no hurry to do anything, as all of our scheduled events had been fulfilled.… continue reading
