Castles In The Clouds – The Twin Pagodas Of Doi Inthanon
After the Summit The summit and nature trails of Doi Inthanon were beautiful, ancient, and amazing in their own way. But they were lacking in a view of the surrounding countryside. The cloud forest was thick, primeval, and virtually impenetrable. Leaving no space for sweeping views of the endless jungle forests below.… continue reading Read More

A Walk In The Clouds – Doi Inthanon National Park.
A conundrum, an enigma, familiar, foreign, a piece of home, a half a world apart. These are the phrases I can use to describe Doi Inthanon National Park. The highest peak in Thailand, nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas. A breathtakingly beautiful place that at times felt so familiar I thought I was back in Georgia.… continue reading Read More

The Journey
It was still dark when we gathered in the little country Church parking lot on the morning of Sunday October 6th. Our delegation included 7 adults and 6 youth. Mr. Ed, not the horse mind you, brought a mobile shop filled with everything including but not limited to a miter box, gloves, both latex and work, a compressor, nail guns, staple guns, various staples, nails and screws, several ladders, a table, a grill, trash bags, tool bags filled with an ascundry of screwdrivers, wrenches and pliers, pry bars, bits, drills, screw guns, chainsaws, work lights and pretty much any and everything required to both supply and feed a work crew at just about any job site.… continue reading

Where do I begin a post about these amazing marvels of human engineering. The St. Mary’s River splits the old city of Saulte Ste Marie in two and the waterway is the only way in or out of Lake Superior. The rapids that form in the river here, which give the city her name Saulte Ste Marie as it means rapids of Saint Mary, drop by an elevation of about 21 feet in just over a mile.… continue reading

We woke to another cool crisp morning with coffee on the porch and a quiet morning. With a quick breakfast it was off to explore further north into the wilderness of the U.P. Our first stop was Oswald’s bear ranch. Founded in 1997 by Dean and Jewel Oswald it is home to many rescued bears from all over the upper Midwest.… continue reading

It has been the better part of 16 years since I last played golf at Hiawatha Sportsman’s Club golf course. It still held incredibly vivid imagery and warm memories in my heart. The first time I ever chipped a ball in from many yards off the green, the first time I ever “truly” parred a hole and the first time I ever came within a few strokes of paring a course.… continue reading
