Restaurants

Aria

Chef Gerry Klaskala opened Aria in 2000 and I had my first dining experience there shortly after. back when I was fresh out of Culinary school and working under Chef Christopher Brandt at the Food Studio. We had gone on a dinner date there at Chris’ recommendation and it has forever held a place in my heart. I remember my first meal there as if it was yesterday, A thick bone – in pork chop with blue cheese mash potatoes and a port wine demi. It was a classic meal for the time and Chef Klaskala has worked tirelessly to keep the menu innovated and fresh. Ever evolving, always seasonal and renovated in 2016, make sure to book a reservation at this 490 East Paces Ferry Road NE Atlanta restaurant.

Bacchanalia

Atlanta Travel Guide Dinner and Date Night

If you’re a foodie and looking for an unforgettable experience in Atlanta then look no further than Bacchanalia. Serving up some of the finest fares in Atlanta since 1993, Bacchanalia has been an Atlanta pioneer in sustainable and locally sourced organic ingredients ever since. In fact many of Bacchanalia’s ingredients are sourced from co-owners Anne Quatrano and Clifford Harrison’s farm Summerland. Whether you are new to fine dining or a seasoned veteran Bacchanalia will offer you an incredible experience. With a nightly $95 prix fixe menu that evolves both daily and with the season’s, stop in at 1460 Ellsworth Industrial Blvd NW and enjoy one of Atlanta’s finest dining experiences. Reservations recommended.

Ecco

One of my favorite restaurants for a nightly meal in Atlanta. I may be a bit biased as it is a Fifth Group property. the Food Studio, one of their early establishments, was my first line cook job out of Culinary school and they have held a special place in my heart ever since. At the corner of 7th and Cyprus in the Heart of Atlanta, Ecco is the perfect place for dinner before a show. Whether you’re going to a play at the Fox theater or Burlesque at Center Stage, Ecco is sophisticated, unpretentious, hip and elegant all in one. You can not enter her doors without ordering the fried goat cheese with wild honey and cracked black pepper. I usually gorge on the charcuterie and small plates. No matter what your preference Ecco never disappoints.

Gunshow

If you’re looking for something special, unique and entertaining all rolled into one then look no further than Gunshow. Opened in 2013 by former Chef and owner of Woodfire Grill Kevin Gillespie, Gunshow is far from conventional. The restaurant design itself puts you in the mix as the kitchen sits in the dining room. Transparency is praised here and when the gets started and things start flying you will find yourself in the middle of the action. A finalist on both Top Chef and Top Chef Duels as well as a competitor on Vice’s Bong Appetit, Chef Gillespie consistently rewrites the playbook in Atlanta dining. Located at 924 Garrett Street, Ste C and with two seatings at 6pm and 8:30pm Tuesday thru Saturday, book your seat at the greatest show in Atlanta, Gunshow.

Beyond Dinner

Fox Theater

Opened in 1929 and a relic from the golden age of cinema, the Fox Theater is a must for any special date night. Steeped in a bit of mystery her moorish design and elegant interiors give the Fox Theater an air of romanticism from a time relegated to an almost forgotten past. AT&T with it’s regional division Southern Bell tried to demolish the theater in the early 70’s, but an outcry from celebrities such as Lynyrd Skynyrd and Liberace caused the city to deny the demolition permit. A true historical landmark of Atlanta hosting everything from broadway plays to comedy shows. So throw on a sport coat, fasten the pearls, check the calendar and head to the Fox Theater for a classy evening in Atlanta.

Punchline Comedy Club

Opened in Sandy Springs in 1982, relocated a few times, now the punchline calls the landmark diner at the corner of Piedmont and Roswell home. Hosting over 3,000 acts in its history it is acclaimed as the most prolific comedy club in the country. Headlining such legends as Jerry Seinfeld, Eddie Murphy and Robin Williams, check out the calendar to see if your favorite comedian is coming to town. Offering acts 5 days a week, reservations are required and you must be 21 with a valid I.D. to enter. With an impressive menu offering everything from breakfast and pasta to lobster and steak. Bring an empty stomach a thirsty mouth and be prepared to laugh into the night.
